Community Service and Garden Projects
Compost ProjectA partnership project with the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency which seeks to educate the home gardener. At the workshops throughout the county, Master Gardeners show gardeners how to compost and then use the resulting material in their gardens. In addition, Master Gardeners volunteers give presentations in local schools to teach children about worm composting. For more information, contact our office.

Library Programs Master Gardeners present free gardening classes at local libraries. Check our Calendar of Events page for a listing of these and other classes. Schools ProjectOur schools presentations encourage programs that promote gardening experiences for all children. Master Gardeners help develop school gardens and bring worm composting demonstrations to school sites upon request. |

Farmer's Market & Fairs We maintain information tables at local Farmer's Markets and Fairs throughout the county. At these tables, Master Gardeners are able to provide unique assistance to the home gardener. Training Class Every year, we train a new class of gardening interns. The courses cover a wide variety of gardening topics and most classes are taught by UC instructors. Forget-Me-Not Farm - Humane SocietyMaster Gardeners work with "at risk" children. Developing their gardening skills with a series of small garden projects.
Harvest for the Hungry - Yulupa GardensAn all volunteer community garden that donates produce to local service agencies. They promote ecological gardening practices and backyard habitat plantings. Workshops for the public are held here throughout the warmer months, featuring workshops for parents and children. |
