Viticulture
Rhonda J. Smith, Viticulture Advisor.
Wine grape production totals over one hundred million dollars annually -- the most profitable agricultural commodity in Sonoma County. The viticulture program consists of research projects in the areas of rootstock and clonal evaluations, pest management, and vine nutrition. These projects are conducted with local grower cooperators who facilitate research activities in their vineyards for the benefit of the viticulture industry.
Note: The UC Cooperative Extension Viticulture Advisor is available to work with commercial winegrape growers. Those interested in putting in a hobby vineyard should contact the Sonoma County Master Gardener program at (707) 565-2608.
